Masks & the Happy Mask Shop

The Happy Mask Shop trading quest in Ocarina of Time — which masks to sell and to whom, how to earn the Mask of Truth, and the Goron, Zora, and Gerudo masks.

The Happy Mask Shop in Hyrule Castle Town lets Child Link borrow masks on credit and sell them around Hyrule. Sell all four — the Keaton Mask, Skull Mask, Spooky Mask, and Bunny Hood, in that order — and the shopkeeper lets you borrow the Mask of Truth, which reads Gossip Stones. Tick a box as you make each sale.

Sell the four masks

#1Keaton Mask Sell to the soldier guarding the Kakariko Village gate to Death Mountain Trail — he wants it for his son.

#2Skull Mask Wear it and talk to the Skull Kid in the Lost Woods (take the left from the entrance).

#3Spooky Mask Wear it and talk to the boy in the Kakariko Graveyard during the day.

#4Bunny Hood Beat Jabu-Jabu Wear it and sell it to the Running Man near Lon Lon Ranch in Hyrule Field (the shop only stocks it after you clear Jabu-Jabu’s Belly).

Earn the reward

#5Mask of Truth Once all four masks are sold and the shop is paid back, borrow the Mask of Truth for free — wear it to read Gossip Stones across Hyrule.

The display masks

After the Mask of Truth, you can also borrow the Goron Mask, Zora Mask, and Gerudo Mask. These are novelty masks — wearing them gets fun reactions from the matching races, but there’s nothing more to sell.
