How to create Scarecrow's Song in Ocarina of Time at Lake Hylia, and the spots where summoning Pierre the scarecrow reaches a Heart Piece or shortcut.

Scarecrow’s Song is a tune you compose yourself. As Child Link, visit Bonooru the scarecrow at Lake Hylia and play any 8 notes — he memorizes them. As Adult Link, play those same 8 notes near a floating Pierre target and Pierre appears as a Hookshot/Longshot point, letting you reach ledges nothing else can.

Write your notes down. You must replay the exact 8 notes as an adult. If you forget them, you can return to Bonooru as a child and re-teach the song.

Lake Hylia (Child): Stand near Bonooru the scarecrow and play any 8 notes to create Scarecrow’s Song.

Where Pierre gets you a reward

Lake Hylia — Lab Roof Longshot Summon Pierre by the Lakeside Laboratory and Longshot up to the Heart Piece on the roof.

Gerudo's Fortress — Roof Longshot Summon Pierre at Gerudo’s Fortress to reach the Heart Piece on the rooftop.

Pierre can also be summoned at many other spots (inside dungeons and around Hyrule) as a general shortcut — anywhere you see a small scarecrow target hovering in mid-air.
