Jabu-Jabu's Belly ✓ Completed
Drop a fish to get sucked into another fish
Enter Jabu Jabu’s Belly
Walk into Jabu Jabu after dumping a fish in a bottle in front of him.
In the first room, I personally would run to the door, turn around, and shoot
the switch on the ceiling with your slingshot.
Follow Princess Ruto down a Hole
Walk through the next room, and open another door. Eventually you will see Princess
Ruto (a lovely and nice Zora Lady). Talk to her, and she will decide to walk away and then fall into a hole.
Jump into the hole after her. Talk to her again a few times until she lets you carry her.
Carry her through the door right next to you. Carry her past the bubbles through the passageway until you
get to a room with a switch in the middle of it. Throw Ruto to the other side of the room before stepping on the switch.
You can shoot the Gold Skulltula on the wall before pressing the button if you’d like. The water should raise and allow you to cross over to Ruto’s side.
Keep carrying her down the hallway, shooting yet another ceiling switch in the process.
Take Princess Ruto up the Elevator
In the next room, you can either swim under the tunnel to get to a Deku Scrub who is selling Deku Nuts, or just go up the elevator.
Wait until the elevator comes down, then jump onto it and ride up to the
next level (with Ruto).
Go past the room with the holes into a fork in the road (so to speak). Your ultimate goal is to kill the tentacle that is blocking that hole on the left (the green tentacle). We’ll need to kill a couple other tentacles first.
Enter the 5-pronged Fork room and get the Boomerang
This area is shaped like a giant 5 pronged fork. If you’re counting left to right, 1-5, you will go all the way right (room #5) first. Go to the right and step on the switch and the door should open. Drop Ruto on the switch to hold it down. You must kill all the monsters on the floor.
I would suggest using Deku Nuts to stun the floor-stingray-things so they pop up faster (then you can hit them with your slingshot twice). Alternatively you
could wait until they pop up (get close to them) and use your sword charge attack when they dive bomb you.
Get the map in room #1 (left)
Once back at the fork, (numbered 1-5 left to right), I would go to the #1 room (all the way left, basically opposite of where the Boomerang was).
Go to the left and step on the switch that doesn’t stay down. Place Ruto on this switch. Then walk through the door that unlocks.
Get the compass in room #2 (2nd from left)
If you want to grab the Compass (optional), head back out and then immediately turn left to room #2 (closest room to the Map room). You have to kill a bunch of bubbles within 30 seconds to get the Compass.
Kill the last two tentacles (#4 then #3)
Now you can head to room #4 (the 2nd room from the right in the fork). This will be another tentacle room, so use your tentacle-boomerang skills to destroy this one as well. This tentacle was blocking the middle room (room #3).
Head over to room #3 (the middle path in the big fork), and kill the final tentacle.
Fall down the hole in the main hole room
This will unlock the hole that you need to fall through in he main room with all the holes. Head out of the fork
and then fall through the hole just to the right.
Grab Ruto again and go through the cave and through the door. Throw Ruto on the platform so she can get her nice blue gem… Hey wait, I wanted that.
Mini-boss: Big Octo
When Big Octo appears, throw your boomerang at him to stun him.
Strategy: Big Octo will randomly either run away from you or towards you after stunning. But he will always run away from you after hitting you. Taking damage might be worth it to have a guaranteed facing-away stun afterwards where you can actually hit his backside with your sword.
Hit wobbly platforms with Boomerang
Jump on the lowered platform and ride it to the top. Now walk to the end of
the hallway, go to the next room, where you find the huge moving wobbling
things. Hit them with the boomerang to stun them. Now you can jump on them, so jump over to the other hallway and open the door.
Now jump over to the other platform, which will move downwards.
Put box on switch
Now you can access another switch. This one won’t stay down, either, so find
one of the small crates nearby. Now place it on the switch, and walk through
the door.
Climb up the platform to the right. There is a Gold Skulltula on the far side of the vines if you’d like to collect it. When you get to the top, go to the ledge with the glass.
Lock onto switch with Boomerang
Lock on to the switch that you should see, and
move close to the left edge of the platform. Fire your boomerang. It should
move to the side of the glass and hit the switch. Now the door opens, so go
through it.
Boss: Barinade
This is the tough part.
This boss can be divided into a few phases.
Phase 1: Tentacles on top
Aim for the tentacles and keep going around in circles. After killing all the tentacles on top, you can hit stun Barinade with a boomerang and hit it a few times, before it moves into another phase.
Phase 2: The jellyfish
Now you have to try to stun the body (might need to wait until the boss calms down), and then kill all the floating jellyfish. Once you do that, you can stun and hit the body again a few times.
Phase 3: The lasers
Now you will need to wait until it stops shooting you with lasers, and then stun it with the boomerang again and hit it.
After finally defeating Barinade, you’ll walk into the light with Princess Ruto.
Now that you have all three spiritual stones, you should make your way back to Hyrule Castle to tell Princess Zelda!
After the Dungeon
After you beat Jabu Jabu’s dungeon, there’s a few nice things to grab on the way back to Hyrule Castle.
First, there’s a Great Fairy Fountain right inside Zora’s Fountain (near Jabu Jabu). You should see some rocks on a platform on the Southeast side of Zora’s Fountain. You will get a teleport spell, Farore’s Wind. Pretty nifty. There’s also a gold Skulltula if you roll into a tree on that little island as well.
On the way out of Zora’s Domain, just outside of the waterfall, you can grab a Heart Piece sitting on the ledge with your Boomerang.
Also, be sure to buy your Magic Beans from the Magic Bean guy (in fact, you can plant one right there as well)
Now, let’s head to Hyrule Castle to bring the Spiritual Stones to Princess Zelda!
